Fake error windows still catching out consumers
A new malware threat is doing the rounds and it looks just like a legitimate Windows 10 error window and despite years of warning consumers are still getting caught out.
Named Hicurdismos, this malware tries to pass itself off as Microsoft Secruity Essentials, once executed the malware produces a fake BSoD (Blue Screen of Death) and directs its victims to call a toll-free number where presumably someone will try to extract your credit card details from you.
As with all malware threats you need a multi-tiered approach to protection, you must have reputable and up-to-date anti-malware software installed and you must train yourself and your staff to be vigilant and skeptical when it comes to errors and warnings.
