New Apple iOS updates stop remote workers from working

A recent update for Apple iOS powered phones and tablets is preventing the use of self-signed SSL certificates and disables certain types of VPN pass-through.

Any business who is running their own email server using a self-signed SSL certificate AND who uses Apple phones or tablets to access their email will be affected by this.  It has been common practice in smaller businesses to use self-signed SSL certificates on their email servers, and up until now it has not caused any problems, that has now changed.  If you are currently using a self-signed certificate it must be upgraded if you want to continue using your iOS device to check your emails.

A second, less common problem that has emerged from these iOS updates is that a certain type of VPN traffic known as PPtP will no longer work when using your iOS device as a mobile hotspot.  We are currently investigating workarounds for this problem and expect to have solutions by the end of this week.
